ADVENTURES AND RECORDS IN A-TOWN
Yo! It has been a while since my last posting. What can I say? Life got in the way for a bit, but I managed to make my way back.
It has been an incredibly busy time and a lot of things have been going on. With that being said, myself and my very good friend decided to take a day trip to Austin last Saturday. And let me tell you, Austin may only be an hour and half away... but it is a completely different world. One in which I feel a very bonded with and connected to.
It was a good time. We enjoyed some good food, good drinks, and had some great conversations. We also had a whole lotta fun! It was cold outside (colder that what we are used to anyway down here in Texas) and so, we were not able to walk around as much as we normally would have, but it was all good. We visited a few vintage shops, bookstores, and made a stop at our favorite record shop. And on our way back home, we topped it all off with milkshakes and burgers.
Now, as I am sure most of you know, Austin is known for it's live music. So, I am sad to report that we did not get around to watching any bands that particular Saturday. It was a brisk 58 degrees, and it was just too cold for exploring. However, if you happen to be in Austin on a warmer day (which is most days because-like I mentioned in one of my earlier postings-it's pretty much warm here in South Texas year round) you can literally find live music at almost any place you happen to stop at: restaurant, bar, coffee shop, street corner, etc... It's my kinda town.
Times have been a bit rough lately, and going away-even for just a day-made a world of difference. It is amazing what a few hours away, and $160 worth of records can do for a person. Oh wait. Did I forget to mention that? My broke ass has no business spending money, but sometimes you just gotta let yourself enjoy the moment, because if you don't do things to make yourself happy, guess what? No one else is going to do it for you. And if you work hard, like I do. And pay your bills, like I also do. Then, you shouldn't beat yourself up over a little splurge here and there.
Well folks, that's if for now, but we will talk again soon. I have about a billion and one things to do, but first, I've got some records to listen to...
